Starbucks is Evil
Posted on March 13th, 2008 by Gabriel HarperI like coffee. In fact, I really like coffee. I drink coffee when I wake up, I drink it all day, and I even drink it before bed. Part of this mad addiction can be attributed to the fact that I don’t like going to sleep. Actually, it would be more accurate to say that I love sleep, but between a business and a baby it’s more myth than reality. So I drink coffee, and lots of it.
I am proud to admit that I have gotten better than the days of chugging 8-10 cups per day. Usually this involved brewing a pot of the cheapest grind around so I could keep up with the habit. As I have grown older and experimented with many more advanced coffee related experiences my taste has become unfortunately more refined. I say unfortunate because the average cup of coffee I drink now is actually more expensive than the average can of coffee that I used to drink. This might be acceptable if you drink, say, one or two cups per week. Or even one or two cups per day. But in recent months it has become exceedingly common for me to drink three or even four triple grande mochas every day. And this, my friends, is at a whopping $4.49 per cup.
Once upon a time I was perfectly content destroying my health with a $3.50 can of grind once or twice each week. Now I can spend enough on coffee in one month to make my cell phone bill look realistic! Not good.
And that is why Starbucks is evil.
And that is also why I have finally equipped myself with the necessary tools to support my mocha latte addiciton at home, and recommend the same to anyone else who is suffering from this dreadful addiction.
