Flippa - Sitepoint’s New Marketplace is Flippa.com
Posted on June 17th, 2009 by Gabriel Harper in MarketingIf you use the Sitepoint Marketplace to buy and sell online, prepare for a big change. Sitepoint is flipping things upside-down soon, and moving the marketplace to Flippa.com. Many people are saying WTF to Flippa, and with good reasons. Is this too much at once?
Most of the responses to the announcement of Flippa attack the name, new fees, design, and/or missing sections. Each complaint has it’s merit, but Sitepoint seems ready to pull the trigger on Flippa. I haven’t sifted through every comment, but I’d like to know what’s happening to Scripts & Software For Sale, Content For Sale, etc.
Will sellers flee, and buyers get scooped up by competition? Perhaps Tidget or Webmasters Marketplace will step into the game? If all the blog comments are any indication, Flippa has a bumpy road ahead.

The Classified categories - Scripts for Sale, Content for Sale, etc. will remain on SitePoint.
Flippa is only for website & domain name auctions…

Hi Matt,
Thanks for clarifying. I’m hoping this has a positive impact on ROI for advertisers in the SP marketplace. Unless the split benefits everyone, I imagine it’ll be hard to sustain.
